NexPoint Bolsters Energy Platform with Addition of Geology Leader

Chris Savage Joins NexEnergy to Lead Subsurface Evaluation and Asset Development

DALLAS, August 7, 2026 – NexPoint, a multibillion-dollar alternative investment firm, today announced that Chris Savage has joined the firm’s recently launched energy platform, NexEnergy, as Vice President of Geology. In this role, Mr. Savage will lead subsurface evaluation and resource development efforts, supporting investment decision-making across the firm’s oil and gas initiatives. His hiring is the second senior addition to NexEnergy, following the appointment of Luke Blackwell as President of the platform in June 2026, and reflects NexPoint’s ongoing build-out of a dedicated oil and gas team.

Mr. Savage will be responsible for evaluating mineral and working interest opportunities, assessing reservoir quality, and helping guide capital allocation decisions across NexEnergy’s portfolio. His work will include geologic mapping, drilling and development planning, and the integration of geophysical, petrophysical, and production data to inform investment strategy. He will work closely with engineering, land, and operations teams, as well as NexPoint’s investment leadership, to advance development plans and optimize asset performance.

“Chris brings a strong combination of technical expertise and real-world development experience,” said Luke Blackwell, President of NexEnergy. “His ability to connect subsurface analysis with execution will be an important addition as we continue building out NexEnergy and evaluating opportunities across the sector.”

Mr. Savage brings deep experience in oil and gas development, spanning the full lifecycle of asset evaluation, drilling, and production across multiple major U.S. basins. Earlier in his career, he held roles at Chevron and Anadarko Petroleum, where he contributed to the evaluation and development of large-scale asset positions, supported horizontal drilling and appraisal programs, and worked on significant, multi-well development projects. He most recently served as Vice President of Geology at Point Energy Partners, where he led subsurface development and supported drilling programs and production growth in the Delaware Basin.

The addition of Mr. Savage reflects NexPoint’s continued investment in its energy platform and its focus on building a team with deep technical and operational experience to support long-term growth. As NexEnergy scales, that expertise is intended to underpin differentiated energy investment solutions that give financial advisors and their clients unique access to the oil and gas sector.
